It is essential to practice proper care for your extensions if you want to extend their lifespan. The following tips for washing, drying, brushing and colouring will help you maximize the use of your extensions

1. Washing

For best results, you should wash your hair no more than twice a week with a good quality shampoo and conditioner to ensure it retains its natural moisture. If you’re swimming, make sure to wear a cap to prevent your hair from coming into contact with salt and chlorine

2. DRYING.

To ensure your extensions last as long as possible, you should avoid using heat to dry them. Instead, use a towel to gently pat your hair from the bottom up, then work your fingers through to reduce tangles and let the hair air dry.

3. Brushing:

When brushing, opt for a wide-toothed comb rather than a brush. With tape extensions, hold the hair just below the tape to ensure the tape isn’t pulled. Begin brushing at the bottom of the hair and move your way up. Be sure to gently detangle before brushing.

4. COLORING

If you want to color your hair, ensure that you are using a premium quality coloring product and seek advice from a professional. Test out a strand beforehand, so you know what the outcome of the coloring will be. However, bear in mind that too much coloring, styling, or chemical treatments can cause irreparable damage to the hair.

5. PROTECTING.

To protect the extensions, when swimming always wear a cap, during exercise wear a high ponytail to stop sweat and oil buildup, and when sleeping opt for a low loose braid or ponytail to reduce friction and movement. Finally, once the extensions are removed, be sure to store them in a flat, air-tight container after they have been washed, dried, and detangled.
